Default T-Mobile and SpaceX closing "black zones" (Apple now in talks)

    "Connectivity Above and Beyond"

Starlink Gen 2 satellites will include a much larger antenna, one which will be able to connect directly to most existing phones in areas without coverage. In the US this would include at sea, most of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto rico, US Virgin islands, etc. Gen 2 satellites start launching in bulk early next year using both Falcon 9 and Starship.

The T-Mobile CEO said that it would be included in basic service, and they are pursuing International reciprocal roaming with other providers. Bandwidth will be 2 to 4 Mbps. Not necessarily for Netflix, but if you're in a dead zone and lost, or have an emergency in the middle of nowhere...

I think the satellite phone people are going to have a really bad day.
