    . . . .
    Clash of the Titans
This movie is awesome as it was. Remake will ruin.

    [/B]Akira (LIVE ACTION)
The anime is still awesome. FX should be good but if this is just an americanized version it will likely suck.

    Hellraiser

    A Nightmare On Elm Street
Messing with the classics again. Grumble, grumble.

Starfighter (remake of The Last Starfighter)
GOt the DVD. Liked the original. The remake will suck.

    Knight Rider
Unless this is realted to either of the TV shows. Heck no.

    Clash of the Titans
Is this going to be live action?

    Akira (LIVE ACTION)
hmmm, not sure how a live action version will work out

    A Nightmare On Elm Street
    over done!!

    Conan The Barbarian
This will end up as a B movie, direct to DVD.

Logan's Run (by the book, not the 70's movie)
Loved the book and movie, hope it really works out!!

    Dune (director: Peter Berg)
Didn't realy like Dune, not sure why.

Porky's (produced by Howard Stern )

Hehe this will be a laugh.

Starfighter (remake of The Last Starfighter)
    Interesting

    Short Circuit
Hehe I bet they will use the same robots they made in the 80's (Johnny 5)

Knight Rider (no, not the TV remake...feature film by the the Weinstein brothers with Glen A Larson - original & new BSG, Quincy ME etc. - writing the script)

I'm still not sure why the new series was cancelled, hope the movie changes that.

    Blah.

A lot of the movies on this list were marginally watchable at best to begin with. How is a remake or a "re-imagining" or "reboot" going to "improve" what were paper-thin premises to begin with?

Hollywood out of ideas, etc. etc.

Clash of the Titans will be live action.

Director: Louis Leterrier (Incredible Hulk, Transporter 2)

    Writer:
Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, Body Heat etc.)

    Perseus:
    Sam Worthington

    DUNE

    THR did an interview with Peter Berg that included this about DUNE;
THR: “Dune” is in some ways an ideological work, at least for the people who read the novel as a metaphor for relying too much on Middle Eastern oil. How much do you want your version to pick up on those themes?

Berg: There is a sense in the book that the commodity is driving the train. But I don’t want to hang the story on that. I read the book and really liked it. What I never saw in Lynch’s film was a really strong adventure story. There’s a much more muscular time to be had there.
Also - not a remake but...

    Green Hornet is in production;

Director: Michel Gondry (directed & co-wrote Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - won Oscar for the story; Kate Winslet won best actress)

Britt Reid: a very trimmed down & bulked up Seth Rogen
Kato: Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle)

Messing around with already good films is a travesty....

Its like sequels, they barely ever get one right....

All the young people won't know about the original versions, they'll only see the new ones and think the older one can't have been better, why remake it ?

Generally, I'm in favor of a movie following the original source material as closely as possible. And IIRC the original short story "The Birds" was considerably more apocalyptic than Hitchcock's movie suggested.

The problem is, the Hitchcock movie is a twentieth-century icon. I can't think of anything Hollywood could do for it other than ramp up the gore and add about a bazillion cgi birds.

And I'm sure it will gross a bazillion dollars.

The Birds was sequalized for TV in 1994, The Birds II: Land's End, and it sucked.

Akira live action? Ha! It will be 99% CG, which still makes it animated.

Speaking of Akira, the Blu-ray release came out last week. 1080p with Dolby TrueHD for both Japanese and English soundtracks.

Must...own... too bad there's no DTS though.

And yes, Hollywood has been out of ideas for a very long time. At least no one is willing to invest in new ideas while the reboot craze is in full throttle.

Yeah...the most "WTF" moment in this style was when I was talking with somebody who "doesn't like old movies"...only it wurned out this means, basically "movies from the 90's"

BTW, if you're fed up with Hollywood there's always something nice to be found in European cinema (personally I think I'm trying to get to know German one atm; helps with my poor German (language) too...)
