      How so? They wanted to demonstrate it was possible to port C-> C++ -> .NET. They simply chose a well known title for that.

        Carmack is pretty anti-MS/anti-proprietary. The irony of an OpenGL-only engine being ported to MS-only code is pretty thick.
        Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

          Maybe they only ported the software renderer. With today's processors, they could run this thing at 1600 by 1200 with no problem.
