No need, unless you were developing a game and wanted to use Matrox's DM. Yup, just skip developing for that card, then.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I'm glad someone stated the obvious.. wish it was as obvious to the suits at Matrox.

LOL... why displacement mapping on Parhelia anyways? I mean, P is not very suitable for DCC works (Ok, yes, surroudDesign is an excellent idea but for the heavyheight its no good to design on 3 screens at 1fps), and is undoubtfully not suitable for games.

Instead, I think they should move more resources to a new generation of card. I think the Parhelia is a failue, but it definitely gains some tech for Matrox. i.e. Parhelia is actually "up-to-date" vs. the G-series cards in terms of 3D.

The irony here is Matrox actually developed HDM. But never get to implement it. Instead, ATI was actually able to do so... funny isn't it?

Is there a HardWareDisplacementMapping SDK out ? HAIG or what his name
on matrox forums told me so..
hmm.. i am not quite sure whether mentioning Haig or MURC is a good idea..
1) Not sure how this will affect him, no idea how things move in M nowadays.
2) If M doesnt love MURC, then mentioning MURC might not be a good idea.

I think it would have been a better idea to state professionally (even if we wanna just take a look at the SDK) that you require certain assistance in a major project at your company and any available source regarding HardWareDisplacementMapping (or any other thing u want ) and/or SDK would be greatly appreciated and care will be taken not to reveal any of the source.

i know it sounds like begging but hey as long as u get what u want

My apologies. Let me restate that. When you load up Tron 2.0 and go to display options, it specifically states under renderers "DX9 Renderer" and under Displays "Matrox Parhelia 128MB - English (MTXPARHD.DLL)" So whether or not that means anything...

But it's not like DX9 games won't work on it...

Leech

P.S. Though it's quite irritating that Tron 2.0 doesn't support Surround Gaming. Oh well, guess I'll just have to beat the game and play GLtron or something for the light cycles.

Now that's humorous.
If Matrox doesn't like you guys, why continue supporting them?
If a company doesn't like the hard work I put up for them, I would go see elsewhere where I'm more wanted.
I guess I lack your perseverance.

If Matrox doesn't like MURC, then why would several Matrox employees regularly post, browse, and link here?

Let me explain my view .. my main point is that the email (IMHO) was not written very well since i am sure Matrox cant just give out their SDKs to everyone who emails them "I really need it" and there are better ways to say that Haig redirected him to a Matrox division handling SDKs rather than just "HAIG or what his name on matrox forums told me so"

@bsdgeek - I would vote Haig for president myself if i could (Soupy for vice), and the point is just because we have Matrox employees here doesnt mean the company might be favourable to MURC (on a sidenote there was a rumour that even the Owner of Matrox has a user account here). this is not the matrox support forums but more for people who have/had matrox cards or who love matrox cards. I still use my g400 and love it more than my ati. A lot of guys have also switched to ati and nvidia while waiting for something big to come from Matrox including myself

@mikeul - there is an if starting that remark,...next time i will capitalise my IFs to indicate that there is a possibility that Matrox doesnt like MURC. As for perseverance, Soon is trademarked down here

PS : i had thought writing in points might keep me from writing an essay.. but ended writing one just to explain my view.

MURC supports Matrox USERS not Matrox. If this site existed to support Matrox and garner their love it would have closed down about 6 years ago.

Are you a past/present Matrox user? You get the "Lost in the Wood" feeling? You can't cope with every day life anymore?

The Matrox Addiction Center (MAC) is the place for you. You won't find a single Matrox there. Only very lickable people. The staff of very renowned scientists think different performing their jobs -a sign the clock is ticking in unexpected ways even for the fruity kind.

All major (and non-major) credit cards accepted.
