No, the G250 is a real card. It's a die shrink of the G200, runs at the same speed, but has no fan on the heatsink. It was sold only to PC manufacturers.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

As far as I remember G200 based cards don't have fan on their heatsinks too.

You can't. They weren't even white-boxed. Try eBay. They were only in Compaqs or something.

The later G200's also came without any heatsink. I used to have a G200 LE (SDRAM 8MB) which came without any heatsink. So it looks like the later G200's sold to OEM's were badged G250's!!

                  Cheers

Check out Page 35 of the PDF document below and you'll see a list of the different variants of the G200.

                    G200 Manual

As a side note, I have a heatsink-less "G200" (from a Compaq PC) that uses SDRAM and has the memory upgrade bracket.

                    Here are the details,
                    Matrox Millennium G200 8MB
                    Product No.: G2+DMILA/8D/CPQ
                    Chipset: MGA-G200A-D2

Judging from the Matrox PDF, it doesn't list the exact product no., but I'll wager that it's the Millennium G200 SD.

                    I hope this helps. Cheers.
