I'm currently running Registered DDR RAM in my KG-7 due to an issue with the AMD controller. My question is will this cause any problems on systems that don't require registered memory? I would assume not

It'll depend. If the system doesn't <i><b>require</b></i> unbuffered type DIMMS (SD or DDR) you'll be fine. If it does need unbuffered only RAM (Like the 845 Chipset from Intel) then there could be problems when adding Registered RAM.
