  • Help - OpenGL not working on G400

    Hi All,

I got my G400 yesterday, and installed it with the new drivers from matrox.
Its great, the tech demo looks excellent, and most d3d games work a treat.
However, I cant get Quake 3 or any other opengl game to work, also I cant get Unreal to work in any mode.
    Any ideas ?
I have renamed the g400icd.dll to opengl32.dll and put it in all the game directories, but I still either get blank or grey screens.
In Q3, I can hear the sound but grey screen.
Could it be a conflict with my V2 Sli setup ?
I never used ogl with that, except for quake3 the dll for which which I have now deleted.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dan

PS, My system is as below :-
    P2-448 Asus P2B, 200MB, SCSIUW, V2 Sli 24MB, Matrox G400

    It's probably a V2 conflict.
I had your same problem because I forgot
to remove the minigl from Q2 and Q3 directories.
The G400 ICD should be in the system directory and there is no need to copy or rename the files around your HD.

    Good luck

      Thanks Nereid,

I had to re-install windows98 to get it all working so I guess it was a V2 conflict.
Shame I cant use both at the same time.
Unreal is absolute rubbish with the matrox, V2 Sli is still Unreal King !
      D3D keeps crashing in unreal.
All the openGL games are great tho, and other d3d games also seem to flow really well.

Incidentally, My 3dMarkMax scores for both cards are near identical, the V2 Sli setup achieving much greater speeds in the fillrate with multitexturing tests but losing out on the texturing speed.

Ive clocked the thing to 147/193

Anyone clocked more than this ?
