  • Kingpin (full version) timedemo??

    Hi!

Has anyone got a good demo that works with the full version that could be used for a "Kingpin timedemo. Post your results!" thread?

    Regards,

    Jake

      Hi!

Here are my results and instructions on how to run the timedemo.

      Instructions:

      1. Download the Poison demo from http://kingpin.pcgame.com/files.html and place poison.dm2 in the \main\demos folder. If it does not exists simply create a folder by that name in the main directory.

      2. Create a shortcut on your desktop to kingpin.exe. (Drag and drop from the start menu)

      3. Edit the shortcut's target to "C:\Program Files\Kingpin\kingpin.exe" +developer 1

DO NOT USE THIS MODIFIED SHORTCUT TO PLAY THE GAME!!! IT'S ONLY FOR BENCHMARKING!!!

      -------------------
To run the timedemo at the console type:

      Timedemo 1
      map poison.dm2

      -------------------
      High settings:

      Fullscreen Yes
      Texture quality MAX
      8-bit textures NO
      Shadows YES
      Fog YES
      Pain skins MAX
      -------------------
      Low settings:

      Fullscreen Yes
      Texture quality MIN
      8-bit textures YES
      Shadows NO
      Fog NO
      Pain skins MIN
      -------------------

      Poison timedemo Results:

      High settings:

      16-bit colour, 16-bit z-buffer

      640*480: 20.1 fps

      16-bit colour, 32-bit z-buffer

      640*480: 19.7 fps

      32-bit colour, 16-bit z-buffer

      640*480: 17.9 fps

      32-bit colour, 32-bit z-buffer

      640*480: 17.3 fps

      Low settings:

      16-bit colour, 16-bit z-buffer

      640*480: 26.1 fps

      Conclusion:

I guess this demo really pushes my G200 to the limit. I must admit it seems quite demanding. There's really a lot of action in this demo. A bit like the good old crusher demo for Q2. I did not bother ro test 800*600 or above as they probably would be unplayable.

Have fun and post some results PLEASE!!!

      You talkin' to ME, MOTHERF**KER!!

      I love this game!

      Regards,

      Jake

        Hi Jake,

        what is KingPin about ?

        1st person shooter ?

Is it worth the download or is it more or less a remake of Q2 for example ?

I cannot post any results, because I'll be off for three weeks, but I'll catch you then I guess.

Hi, just did some quick tests:

test done with jake's High settings (btw with sound ON)

only did some 16 bit colour, 16 bit z-buffer tests:
          640*480: 27,0 fps
          800*600: 23,4 fps
          1024*768: 16,6 fps

I'm playing the game at 800*600, and it's very playable, i'm gonna test if 1024 is still playable...

          i wanted to test 1280*1024 but i got an error ( glimp_endframe()-Swapbuffers() failed! )

i'll do some 32bit tests and post results later

          D.
