  • G400 overclocking PowerStrip released

    PowerStrip 2.51 released
In large part a routine maintenance release, PowerStrip 2.51
nevertheless includes a number of small refinements as well as
preliminary support for the Intel752, Permedia3 and MGA-G400.
Amongst other things, the new release refocuses on gamma
correction - now enabled by default - and includes support for
custom refresh rates at resolutions up to 2048x1536, and
frequencies as low as 50Hz, for chips from 3dfx, Intel, Matrox,
NVidia, Rendition and S3. The 647kb package gives real meaning
to the word "unified", by transparently providing clock controls,
performance tweaks, custom refresh rates, screen adjustment,
gamma correction, power management, memory optimization, and
user-defined monitor profiles to some 60 chipsets from 13 different
chiphouses under 4 distinct operating systems - including
    Windows 2000.

ok, you beta testers, have at it! "Hello, Matrox, my beta board's main chip started smoking, so I had to dump water on it to put out the fire" :-)

    Hi Kenyee,

thanx for input, but we already have that version for a few hours

Guess why I got myself a huge heatsink

btw, PStrip 2.50 did already recognize the chip, but wasn't able to alter the settings.

So, Maggi, what's the verdict? How well does it overclock? We are VERY eager to know.

        Hi Paul,

no clue yet ... my G400 is at home and I'm at work

I thought there was more to the PowerStrip's G400 support than just a clock control, but if that's all that really interests you, you'll want to download the current beta here:

            http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/psbeta.exe

The 2.51.00 release will try to read, but won't write the clock; the current 2.51.01 beta will try to do both (heavy emphasis on "try").

And if you want to run the PowerStrip under Windows 2000, with any card, you absolutely must be running a non-checked build; checked/debug builds are not and cannot be supported - see the release notes for other caveats.

Um, I'll play around a little more tonight, but at the moment I can't get powerstrip to actually change the speed of my g400... At least it seems a little more supportive of it.

Seems it needs a little more work, it reports the MAX as 130.5MHz graphics clock, 195.8MHz memory clock and I can't overclock with it.
