  • how do I re-install Win98se "Scheduled Tasks"

My "Scheduled Tasks" has become corrupt and does not execute properly anymore. In my System tools the "Scheduled Tasks" properties tab shows the location of the file as "C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE ,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\::{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}".

But when I try to open it all I get is an my C drive open up showing all my folders. I tried the add/remove programs in the control panel; but there is no setting to reinstall "Scheduled Tasks". Do I have to reinstall Win98se?

    thanks

    Reinstaling IE should fix it!

          dancray,

This is simple, but in case you haven´t tried it,
          run mstask.exe,
that will give you the icon back on the task bar.

I get the icon on the task bar, but I cannot open it (when I double click on it nothing happens except my blood pressure goes up). And since I can't open it, I cannot modify any of the parameters. damn winblows 98.

I'm on 2k right now, but if I remember right, you just have to search for "task" in your windows folder, double-click and search the pulldown menus for "start taskmanager" ...

I'll pop by later again and let you know, if I got it right.

              Cheers,

goto Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled Tasks and click on Tune-up Application Start.

                        Hi Ayoub
A better way to disable it is doing it from within task scheduler itself!
I mean, under the advanced options menu, you can click on 'stop using task scheduler' to disable it!
                        Cheers
