  • SBlive platinum won't work

Well after installing win2K and Sp2 inf drivers from intel, intel
    ATA-100 drivers, directX 8.0a
I went ahead installed liveware 3.0 for x-gamer. This time I picked
audioHQ, diagnostics the whole install ran fine I said cool maybe it
will work. When it booted it frozed up during the flag page. So I
booted safe mode, uninstalled the drivers, rebooted into safe mode
installed the drivers, then booted into normal mode, soon as the desktop
came up my speakers made a nonstop steady tone beeping sound.

So I uninstalled the drivers from safe mode, also deleted emu10kf.sys as
well, rebooted system is fine now wihout sound.

I blame creative on such poor drivers because I feel that is why I am
    having problems up the ass.
The big mystery is why can't I get my platnimum x-gamer 5.1 to work.
Hell this card and the drivers worked on it for months.
The only thing I can think of is I installed after Sp2 is on the system.

One other thing is I don't think I had P3-1000 when I first intalled
these drivers months ago, it was a 733.
So the speed of the cpu may have something to do with it.

    Any ideas?
system: windows 2000 service pack 2
    cusl2 bios 1006.A
    384megs ram
    Matrox G400 DH 32MB
SBlive x-gamer (slot 2) this slot is an unshared high priority slot.
    3com nic card (slot 4)
    two ibm harddisk ATA-100 40gig (primary), 30gig(secondary)
    toshiba combo drive SDR-1002

By the way I did manage to get sound working for a little while before I
did an install, don't know how I did it, but the drivers were such a
    mess at that point.

Perhaps you could install the driver
sell with your board. THe liveware 3.0 driver only work for 'normal' SbLive.

    I have a SbLive 5.1 ! with DTT2200 and
i don't have any pb in Win2K with audio.

Yes, actually the regular SBLive! drivers do NOT work for the 5.1 series. You have to use the ones on the CD. There's also one posted on the Creative site, but it's supposedly just the same ones as the CD drivers.

That's what I meant. heh I am not that stupid. But I did resolve the issue after reinstalling win2K 5 times. Turned out that the card had to be reseated into the board. After that the drivers installed. Out of all the help I asked for on irc and other forums no one even suggested that. I remember my matrox G400 was preventing my machine from booting so I reseated it and that fixed that problem.

Was weird because I didn't remove or add anything to the board, just another harddisk.

        Thanks for the comments anyways

I was about to suggest that you reseat the board having had that selfsame problem recently, I knew it had to be something like that when it gave the same problem in win2k and winme. I thought I had it seaqted properly too, but reseating it did the trick.
I left my brother at home trying to get a VooDoo4 to stay consistently in the AGP slot, but judging by the beeps as aI left he was having no such luck.
Anyway I am off to home so I can try out PowerDesk for Linux Muahahahaha.
