  • Small OpenGl benchmark on Overdraw/Fill rate/T&L performance

    http://hem.passagen.se/emiper/3d.html

Very interesting. So who wants to bet that Kyro chips will excel on this bench?

    BTW, here´s some G400 results:

    G400 @ 150/200, Athlon 1 Ghz, win2k

    Results:
    --------

    Overdraw/HSR:
    -------------
Overdraw factor 3, back to front: 60.49 fps
Overdraw factor 3, front to back: 74.79 fps
Overdraw factor 3, random order: 68.28 fps

Overdraw factor 8, back to front: 23.94 fps
Overdraw factor 8, front to back: 32.69 fps
Overdraw factor 8, random order: 30.03 fps

    Fillrate:
    ---------
    Pixel fillrate: 200.82 MegaPixels / s
    Texel fillrate: 240.22 MegaTexels / s

T&L/High polygon count static display list:
    -------------------------------------------
    Pure transform: 5060804 vertices / s
    2 point lights: 1993576 vertices / s
    8 point lights: 939192 vertices / s
    2 directional lights: 3059514 vertices / s
    8 directional lights: 2310632 vertices / s

High memory bandwidth load/texture cache efficiency:
    ----------------------------------------------------
    One 1024x1024x32 texture: 149.03 fps
    Four 1024x1024x32 textures: 153.46 fps

I think the G400 is still kicking (The funny part is that with a overdraw of 8, a Gforce MX doesn´t perform that much better than a G400)

Overdraw factor 8, back to front: 36.66 fps
Overdraw factor 8, front to back: 48.43 fps
Overdraw factor 8, random order: 44.94 fps

    Fillrate:
    ---------
    Pixel fillrate: 309.82 MegaPixels / s
    Texel fillrate: 743.34 MegaTexels / s

    One 1024x1024x32 texture: 209.18 fps
    Four 1024x1024x32 textures: 189.46 fps

Ooops. Actually I realized I should have post it in benchmark forum. Any of the mod´s would care to move it?

BTW, what CPU are you using, CHHAS?

I downloaded and tried to run it but it just kept showing this wall, I guess, that rocks back and forth and stretching as it rotates. Is that all it does and I'm just not letting it run long enough?

It´ll take some time to finish, Joel. At the end it´ll exit, create and open a .txt file from wich CHHAS and I just copy and pasted the results.

It doesn´t have no fancy graphics - it repeats the same textures several times, just changing the amount of overdraw I guess.

              Four 1024x1024x32 textures: 328.00 fps

This is on Win2k, the results should be even higher in Win98SE.

EDIT: CHHAS: Are you sure you have HyperZ activated? Your Overdraw-results seem a bit low to me (even considering that you have the SDR).

                Nuno:

                I'm running on a Duron 650@866 under Win98SE and Dx8.1b

                Indiana:

The results seem low alright, I checked the Rage3D forum and it seems that the 7103 drivers I'm using are to blame, I'll try some earlier drivers and see if that changes the result.

Wasn't HyperZ deactivated on some SDR Radeon boards and was there not a registry hack to reactivate it?
