  • 24 Hours 'Til It Comes!

24 Hours, huzzah huzzah, until my Hercules Prophet 4500 arrives.

64MB of Kyro2 goodness, all for ME.

    Hehe.

Of course, after playing with it, I'll have to decide which machine gets the G400. Hmm...

Direct from Guillemot, at a price of $149.

        Includes Exile (Myst 3).

Shipping was $9 - it would have been $17 for overnight, but they couldn't have guaranteed it overnight anyway, so they gave me two-day for $9. Not bad.

              Hey Gurm,

would you mind to report about the Kyro`s 2D quality ? I´m really interested how big the difference is between the G400 and the Hercules at 1024 x 768 & 100Hz !

                Don't fear, everyone!

The first thing I'll be doing is commenting on 2D and driver stability, leading up to a full report.

I've only got access to a limited number of recent games, so don't expect anything astonishing. nVMark2001, Quake3, UT (Maybe), B&W, and... err... I'm sure I can scare up some other games.

I'll also comment on 3DSMax/Maya capability as well as a bunch of other stuff.

I'm just hoping the drivers aren't as bad out-of-box as the LAST Hercules card I bought (the Game Theater XP).

I also ordered a Herc 4500, I´m waiting for it.
I was also thinking doing a small review just for G400 users who are considering a Kyro II, while we´re expecting Ralph
                  Mainly win2k issues.

They told me it should be here until the end of the week, but I highly doubt it...

Gee, to be honest I miss my G400 already

I find very interesting that many Matrox users turned out to KyroII Everything but Nvidia video cards, right?

                          Nuno,

I think the reason that we're turning to the KyroII is that, according to all the previews, it fulfills our basic spoilt-by-matrox needs. To wit:

                          1. Roughly GeForce2/Radeon speeds.
                          2. Good Win2k compatibility.
                          3. Decent 2D image quality.

The Radeon fulfills 1 & 3, the GeFarce fulfills 1 & 2. The KyroII seems to (according to everything we've heard) fulfill all 3. And is the only card currently on the market to do so.

                          - Gurm

P.S. I got mine! I'll be posting in a separate thread entitled IT'S HERE!
