Optimal Refresh setting question

A quick question here, When you set your video card up under display properties, You have the option of adapter defualt, optimal and the various refresh rates of 60hz and so on so forth. My question is what does the optimal setting set your monitor at? I run my monitor at 85hz now...

The Optimal setting, available only in Win9x/Me, automatically picks the highest possible refresh rate for your monitor at any given resolution, according to either the monitor inf file you installed or lack of that what your monitor told Windows through Plug & Play.

Your monitor may be capable of displaying a higher refresh rate than that but this is what the manufacturer recommends.

This functionality is sorely missing from Windows 2000.
