I usually have a tone of stuff cluttering my desktop further, you know, downloads that never get moved to the "temp" or "stuff" folders. However I cleaned it up before I took this shot so that it wouldn't look like quite such a mess.

I've resized the image to 800x600, but I run at 1280x960.

      Ian

Edit: You know Maggi, I really would have gotten it right if you had given me more than 2 minutes.

Very nice everybody. But FrankDC and Maggi may need to fix your link, please. I want to be convinced to change my current style since I have been using this way for year already.. Boring...
          Anyway, mine looks neatest...

This is one of three systems
            1600x1200 resized to 8x6

I'm a fan of a clean desktop with a pop out taskbar to the left (the bottom sucks)

I have the same setup but I hide the desktop icons for a totally clean look. Desktop icons are useless anyway when you've got a couple windows open. Get rid of the DIs by 1) setting Display Properties\Web\View my Active Desktop as a web page, 2) disabling Display Properties\Web\Internet Channel Explorer Bar, 3) and setting Display Properties\Effects\Hide icons when the desktop is viewed as a Web page] ... and I use QuickLaunch.

Any of you chaps ever tried using Stardocks Object Desktop. I recently bought one hoping that it was much more stable than their OS2 version -and it was.

Object desktop? That Litestep rip-off that you have to pay for? No thanks.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
