  • New posts on a topic since last visit to forum - Indication available?

    Hi guys

Think I have asked about this before - is it just my browser not showing this info, or is it really not available?.

      Thanks for the reply

Cookies enabled and working well on other forums . Suspect I may have corrupt cookies relevant to this forum - any ideas wich ones to delete other than the obvious - have tried with the obvious ones, but no success.

We're talking about a little red folder, right? Not necessarily a red link?

          Hi

Little red folder ?. If the little yellow folder on the lefthand column is supposed to turn red, then yes - have not yet seen it though.

The animation on the little yellow folder gets through to indicate hot toppic.

OK - I decided to dump the contents of my cookie bin in total - still no go, even though cookies relevant to this forum were recreated on my next visit here.

          ?????

            What browser are you using?

Have you tried deleting all the cookies set by the MURC forum through this sites preferences?

Are you coming in to individual forums directly from the MURC's homepage?

Or do you come in directly from this page:

              http://forums.murc.ws/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

I'm not sure if this is still true, but when I accessed an individual forum directly from it's link on the MURC's homepage, the little file icons on the side would alway be yellow. If I access the forums from the forums' mainpage (the above link), all is well.

... That's true Paul (at least used to be). I used to only visit the MHW forum and didn't know about the red folders for the longest time.

The cookie is named "cgi-bin/." You'll probably have several with that name. Directly to the right of the cookie's name is the Internet Address, which should be something like "[your computer's name]@matroxusers.com/cgi-bin/."

I believe it is the only one relevant to the
forums. I've deleted every cookie but this one, and my preferences are maintained.

Thanks to all interested parties - problem solved.

Have actually followed all your suggestions before, and once again now with no joy.

Decided that the forum "admin system" maybe decided to ignore my existence - so tried to set "store my username and password" to "no" on the preferences page. Saved the settings, did a bit of browsing, came back after a while, set "store my username and password" to yes, saved the settings and -Hey Presto - problem solved.

Those little red folders do look nice and help a lot with productivity Gurm.!

                        HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

                        Cookie Monster Strikes Again!

                        Problem is back today!

                        When I go here :

                        http://forums.murc.ws/cgi-bin/Ultima...assCookie=true

I expected to see the little yellow lightbulbs indicating new posts in the lefthand column - I have NO indicators AT ALL in that column, and I suspect that is what is causing the yellow folders on the actual post pages to stay yellow in stead of turning red.

Tried last sollution again - but now it simply ignores me completely by the looks of it.

Is it possible that I have a corrupt user profile on the forum? ALL other forums I use seem to be able to track my cookies ok

I also notice that whenever I post on the forum, my browser offers 2 user names as a option - Could this be the reason, and how do I remove one or both of them to get rid of the hassle?

                          Look at that link.
At the end of it, it says "&BypassCookies=true"
Remove that bit from your link.

That seems to do the trick for now, thanks - that link was copied from the actual page - question then seems to be where does the bypass come from?
