    Hi

    Im using internet connection sharing, which works fine when i set the ip address to automatically, but when i manually select one, i cant use the iternet anymore. anyone know how to get around that?

    Make certain to also set the following...

    DNS - Enabled
    Primary DNS Server
    Secondary DNS Server (if you have the ip address for it)
    Domain search entries - ex...
    chicago1.il.home.com
    il.home.com
    home.com
    Also, set the proper netmask and gateway addresses.

    To get most of this, if under W9x/WMe, use winipcfg, and display all the settings, click on button to the right of the dns server box to display the extra dns numbers.
    Take the domain names from the Server Name.

    Under Win2K, use ipconfig /all | more

    All of these things are set via the DHCP server, not just the IP address, and without them, the connection will not work.

        I never knew there was a Windows version of IPCONFIG. Thanks. Too bad the entries are protected so you can't copy the data.
