AS a rule of thumb, try a different media. You may also want to look into Nero Burning ROM. It does audio CD's better than any software I've seen.

Jammrock,

Thanks for the suggestions, sadly, at present I don't have any other media (save for some 80 minute CD-R's, which I might try). About Nero, I've used it but it seems to have more problems with my burner than Adaptec.

Update...

I've tried the 80 minute CD's as audio CD's but sadly its a no go. I did however find out what the error is, its "T763F: TrackWriter warning - Operation continues". So hopefully someone can help me, thanks.

I would stick with the same media if it worked before: That's one less variable to be concerned about. You can find the track error message meanings here. T763F is caused by ...

There was a recorder error, but the software was able to recover and compensate for it. If this kind of error occurs persistently, you may need to have your recorder checked, but in any case the disc you burned should be fine.
This implies that its a hardware error.

Xortam,

Thanks for the link. I guess its a new burner for me (was thinking about it before). I just wanted to check and see if I could find a solution to that CD-R's problem. But since it doesn't seem very likely, its either a Panasonic 8X4X32 or a Plextor 8X4X32. Thanks all for your help.

No problem. Sorry it didn't turn out better. I recently broke my Yamaha 4416 burner. On the bright side, the new burners are much faster and more robust. Plextor seems to be the leader right now.

What speed are you burning? Have you tried AudioCD's at 1X?

Are you burning Track-at-once or Disk-at-once? I always burn DAO, not sure what Easy CD supports.

Have you tried switching software? I saw Nero mentioned above, personally I like CDR-WIN. I find that it works much better than Easy Coaster Creator.

Spoogenet,

Yep, I've tried burning Audio CD's at 1X but still more coasters are being made. I also use DAO, as it would work with the highest amount of burners. I can't really change software that much as I really don't have alot of money, oh well.

Gurm I'd love to pick up a Plextor 12X10X32 if you want to send it to me . It's a little out of my budget, by $115 (Canadian). That's why I mentioned the 8*4*32 Plextor, It's the only Plextor I can come close to affording.

dsp,

If you're looking for a slower drive, try to find a Plextor 8x20 or 8x2x20 (or a rebadged one by Imation or whatnot). They can cut ANY protection like butter, and are reliable as all get out. You may need to get a used one since they're pretty rare nowadays.

- Gurm

P.S. Check on CloneClinic to see which Sony is getting the modified BIOS to cut SD2, that one is MUCH cheaper than the Plextor.

The issue of which new burner to pick is tricky...

Plextor can't copy SafeDisc 2 reliably. You will only be able to play SafeDisc2 games on the burner itself. Urk.

Philips CAN copy SafeDisc2 but that's about it, it's a crappy drive all around (no subchannel data).

Yamaha, despite persistent reports to the contrary, can't write DAO RAW, and can't copy SD2.

*shrug*

I'd go for the Plextor 12x10x32, either IDE or SCSI. A new firmware is in the works for it that should be able to cut SD2. (wink)

CD Burner Help needed

Hi all,

My CD-R (See sig) has not been burning succesfully recently. Burning Data CD's and CD-RW's is fine, but when I try to burn an audio CD, the CD is created correctly, except that there is an "trackwriter error". The CD then will not play in most CD players (DVD drive/potable CD player/DVD Player). I am wondering what is wrong as I really don't want to make any more costers. The software I'm using is Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5c and Direct CD 2.5D. I have the CD-RW on its own channel, and have turned off DMA to see if that is the problem (it wasn't), I have also installed the latest firmware 1.6a (from 1.3a). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to use my burner. I hope I'm not rambling. Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer.
