SB dos emulation..

I am trying to stop my vortex 2500 from loading the Sound Blaster Pro dos emulation, and thus free an IRQ. I have unchecked the autoexec.bat options in start up, but it still loads. Should I just remove it from device manager?

In Device Manager, check "Disable in All Hardware Profiles." If you remove it, it may just reinstall the next time you enter Windows.

Is it loading in DOS as well?

As Paul said, plus edit the autoexec.bat and REM out the SB emulator lines, (Just put REM in front of them), in case your Windows ever thinks it can do by it's own
