  • Unofficial comments from 3dfx team member

We managed to get unofficial comments from 3dfx team member (he didn't want to disclose his name) on the latest events in 3D industry (3dfx + NVIDIA):
    - could you comment this in brief?
    - It sucks. We would have blown the doors off the competition more than anyone could possibly dream of. Stuff happens though. That is life.

    - So, what is all means for users? for 3dfx engineers?
    - Users.. it means no more 3dfx products. Engineers are out of a job

    - Can we expect that NVIDIA will be monopoly? and prices for cards will grow up?
    - Probably.. just a guess though.. I don't think anyone can come close to Gigapixel technology

    - So, 3dfx will continue to work on Gigapixel tech? but only for consoles market?
    - 3dfx is dead

    - What about Gigapixel Technology? Did NVIDIA buy it too?
    - Yup

    - Heh, the nightmare comes true

    - Now we know the name of NV20 -- 3dfx Voodoo6 !!!
    - Black humor
Probably… we would have wasted NVIDIA too if we would have lasted

    - Hmmm
Maybe ATI will change it's strategy and we'll see strong competitor for NVIDIA?
    - Hope so
As for Matrox I don't think that they can compete

    - What do you thing about ImageTech ?
    - They should compete still
But they don't have strong chips yet (if I'm right)
    But time passed
Maybe it would be too late

alessandro, any and all of this information could have been posted by anyone that's been closely following the industry. There is nothing new or ground breaking in it at all and contains additional BS that simply isn't true.
