• Does all my hardware work in Windows ME?

My hardware is in the sig. So far, the TV Tuner, my DVD software, and quite a few of my games do not work well in Win2K at this time. Not to mention the fact that I get a blue screen telling me that my hardware malfunctioned on me and I have to reboot(or my computer spontaneously reboots)... BTW, I have tried looking at all the driver descriptions and readme's that I can find... Not enough info for me to go on....

    Thx in advance.

i heard somewhere that windows me is fully compatible with windows 98, thus if your hardware is compatible with win98, the odds are its compatible with win ME, i think u can use the same drivers......

I'm using Win ME (final beta), and don't have any problems with the drivers. I just upgraded from within my working version of Win98 (first edition). And as far as I know (and tried) all programs and (Win98-)drivers work flawlessly in Win ME.

          Grail,

Try BorgTV for your TV Tuner card in Windows 2000. It's by far the best TV application I've ever came across for Windows. You might have to uninstall/disable your old TV tuner drivers as bTV needs no drivers to operate (well it comes with its own generic driver).

What's wrong with your DVD software? Other than not being able to use SPDIF pass-through due to the SBLive! drivers I don't have any problems with that either.

            Thanks for the answers guys.

Paul: Yes, I will be dual booting.

fds: I'll try that out when I fix up the rest of my problems. (Will be posting a new topic on my problems.)

I have the same TV card and WinME but not together yet. I had a lot of trouble with a SS7 system/G200 and ME plus another bug with an ATi Rage128 card, so do not believe that ME is the same as W98. Afterall there was a lot of changes from W95 to W98 and bugs show up with any change of code. Sorry I have not tried it on my loaded P2B- G400MAX WinTV included, but some systems are worth leaving unbroke BTW I'm not upgrading all 7 of my PC to ME because it's not as stable as W98 IMHO

And with ME you still have to load the SB Live drivers! Unbelievable

I just put ME on my test bed at home last night. No support for SB Live!, had to load from CD, no support for my 2 year old Epson Photo 700, had to load from CD, but my DVD-RAM was supported right out of the box!

I can read and write to it without having to instal DVDWrite. Thats very cool.

It doesnt seem to boot any faster than 98SE, but I havent tweaked it yet. Shutdown is fast, but crashed once.

I was hoping for built in DVD support, but no luck there.
