  • VIA memory tweaks

I have a VIA Apollo motherboard and I have read a lot on the net that this motherboard needs the memory settings to be 'tweaked' to get the best performance.

I have looked in the bios but I don't know what all the options mean. Does anyone have the same mobo and know what the best memory settings are? I have looked everywhere on the web but can't find anything specific to this mobo.

SiSoft 2000 memory benchmarks are 243ALU / 276FPU, this seems slow for 133Mhz memory.

According to SiSoft the memory bank settings are 64MB SDRAM 7-1-1-1R 4-1-1-1W (same for bank 0 and bank 1) and the memory module is 128MB 16x(8Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542 (CL3 upto 133MHz). Can anyone explain what all these numbers mean and how best to tweak the performance of my memory / system?

    Thanks

I've put a site together that has my current tweaks and before/after Sandra benchmarks. It's also got links to the programs you'll need.

    hope it helps
