  • Socket A alert.

For those of you shopping for heatsinks, avoid the Golden Orb for Socket A.
Although Thermaltake designed a new clip for the Socket A,it can be damaging to your system.
The force needed to get it on requires tools,or a professional weight lifter!
It crushed my Duron and could do the same to any Socket A.
AMD'S site has approved heatsinks here's one http://www.taisol.com/
It seems one of the most important items is woefully short, heatsinks.
Without cooling the life span of socket A is extremely short.2 minutes at most!
The boards also run hot (heatsinks and fans advised on all heat producing chips.
    New Duron on its way.
    Weep for my little Duron.
    Gorb bad!!!

I'm not too keen on the Golden Orb for any cpu really. On my old K6-2 550 it was an extremly tight fit. On my new Celery 533A it's fine as far as pressure goes, but somehow I managed to chip the corner off of the CPU while installing it!

Once ASUS solves the 100MHz FSB problem with Celeron 2's I'll upgrade to an Alpha. Right now I'm running it at 600 (75 fsb) at 1.55v. The CPU hits 120f (49c) while under a load with the case (and ambient ) temp at 100f (38c).
