  • I am Developing a new software and need your help...

I am Developing a new program that might help pepole with upgrading thier computers.
you will input your current system configuration, and the software will find the upgrade that will mostly improve your preformance...
in order to do it, it will run "Simulated" Benchmarks of Quake3 and 3DMark 2000, Basing the score on your current hardware + the part you have upgraded... I think such a software might be useful...
For example, let's say you have a 600Mhz Coppermine with a G400, and you want to upgrade your computer to a 1Ghz coppermine, however you are not sure if the speed improvment will be high, so to find out what preformance boost you will get, you simply run the software and it will tell you your score in sevral benchmarks (So Far it's: 3DMark 2000, Quake3 Time DEMO 1 Normal and High Quality) befor and after the upgrade...
The final release of the software will include these settings:
    Cpu Type/FSB/Mhz rating.
Video card Type. + OC to what speed.
    Hard drive speed.
    and Driver set.

so far, the one part I am having problems with is the LOGIC Behind the 3DMark 2000 benchmark, AKA How can I give you a result of the benchmark without actually running it. so I have created a small DOS APP (without any interface, or any bug fixes yet... sorry...) that was Ported from my final application, where you select what hardware you have and the software caculates the 3Dmark score (Totaly Syntethic)...
what I need for you, is that if you don't mind, run the software on your machine, select your config, and tell me what score it gave you, what is your REAL 3Dmark 2000 score and your system config.
this will help me to "Fine Tune" the 3Dmark Test in the final software.
    Thank you.

    Download the mini-application (106K):
    http://www.angelfire.com/il/dnet/Synthetic_3Dmark.exe

    Notes:

-if you have an Athlon, Type in 200Mhz as FSB (it DOES not take into Account the DDR FSB of Athlon systems, so please type 200Mhz).
-there are problems with the software caculating the scores of S3/ATI Based chipsets.
-K6-2/3 and V5 will be added in a few hours to the software...

I have added these items to the mini-software:

    -Voodoo5 5500 Scores.
-FSB Lower then 100Mhz and core greater then 650Mhz fixes
-ATI Radeon insted of ATI Rage 128.
-Mainboard Chipset now affect score within ~200 points.
    -Upgrade advice[s].

    the url is the same.

it's one of the thigns I want to implant into the software...
also I want to add Mainboard chipset and RAM amount/speed to the mix.
but befor that I need to know some 3DMark scores with the REAL Benchmark and my Syntethic one...

              Thanks guys,
but I do need your help with the 3DMark 2000 part of the software...
if you can, download the latest version (http://www.angelfire.com/il/dnet/Synthetic_3Dmark.exe) (build 005) and run it on your computer and please tell me if the result is the same as the REAL 3DMark2000 benchmark...
              thank you.

Heh DataOrb, I don't suspect that you are doing much bug tracking yet, but I found one rather glaring bug. For any of the options, try typing anything other than a number. I know that people should be intelligent enough not to do so, but if a key is hit by accident...

Anyway, I commend you on your rather ambitious project, I'll bet that it will be rather well recieved when you make an official release.

One other thing, could you possibly add the G200 to the list? Thanks, and good luck.

HedsSpaz, yes I am aware of that bug... but that DOS Application I made is nothing but a test code for the 3DMark2000 part of the software... the first beta release (in about a week or so) has a nice "Windows GUI" Interface to it, where the options are selectable by Radio Buttons.
I would love to add the G200 to the list, but I need to hear some results of G200 on 3DMark 2000 before I can add it.
so if any one feels like helping me, please post your system specs and your 3Dmark 2000 score...
                  thanks!

Ah ha! It all becomes clear now!

As for 3DMark2000 results for the G200, tonight I'll see if I can get the damn program to actually finish for a change. Every time I've tried so far it's crashed on one test or another. I'm going to install the 1.1 patch and see if maybe that will get it to work. I'm really hoping that it will, one of the major bugs with 1.0 was some gaping compatability problems with Win2000(which I am using), so we can hope that this will fix it.

Well, the 1.1 patch did indeed work(although it didn't fix everything it was supposed to, I still can't use the online result browser).

Anyway, here are my system specs.(everything that might be relevant anyway)
                      Epox 7KXA

                      IDE0 UDMA66 7200RPM IBM 13.6GB
                      IDE1 UDMA66 7200RPM Maxtor 15.0GB
                      Creative SBLive Value
                      Drivers:
                      G200 PD5.03
                      SBLive Default Win2000

I think thats everything that might be important. I have been completely unable to stably OC my 'puter cause the G200 unfortunately is not at all tolerant of out of spec bus speeds.
Anyway, I ran 3Dmark twice and ggot these results.

                      800x600x16 32z
                      3dmarks 1187
                      cpu marks test failed
                      800x600x16 16z
                      3dmarks 1398
                      cpu marks 132

Hope that gives you something to start with anyway, if you need stats at a different res I'll be happy to try and run it.
