Just a week ago I downloaded rev PV (dated 6/4/00) and was going to install it this weekend. This new one should be better??

You say this is the first non-beta release with the 1.25 HA66 bios.... what is the 1.25 HA66 bios?

By the way I still have the original release of the the BE6 Bios -- I think it's the source of all my stablitiy and hard drive problems.

The HA66 is the highpoint UDMA 66 controller that is embedded in the BE6 motherboard. Most of the BETA bios for the past 8 months have had the 1.25 rev, but when they went to production, they reverted to 1.22 or 1.23. It's just a newer rev of the hard drive controller bios. Hopefully with either speed or stability improvements. There's nothing posted on the web site yet.

Also, the multiplier goes to 10.5x now for the CPU.... ;-)

The new drivers at highpoint tech's site supposedly require the 1.25 upgrade for the hpt366 controller, so it's good we now have 1.25 on the abit be-6.

Mathew: I'm still operating in the "dark ages", my cpu is only a PIII 450. I haven't even bothered to try overclocking it since the system doesn't seem very stable as it is.
I guess I'll try the 6/16/00 bios with the new HPT drivers since my problems seem to be HD Controller related.

I installed both the BIOS update and the new driver for the HPT66 controller. From first impressions over the evening, the system is much more stable at overclocked buss speeds.

                      Very cool

So Brian R., are you saying you flashed your Motherboard TWICE, once to install the recent BE6 flash and Second to install the Highpoint66 flash`1.25....Why didn't the BE6 flash include BOTH motherboard AND highpoint drivers, so only ONE flash would have been necessary?

No, I only flashed the mb BIOS once. This updated the mb BIOS and the HPT66 controller BIOS and did not install or update any drivers. In an additional step, I updated the drivers for the HPT66 controllers (once for each controller).

By the way, the possible multipliers have increased to 12 (1200 MHz at 100 MHz fsb). The available voltage settings have not changed (max 1.85 V).

I finally made it to the Abit site to download this new Bios, but the most recent file available is still BE6PV.EXE (5/26/00).

Is this BIOS indeed for the BE6? If so, where can I find it?

                              Yo Beezer

I hope it is for a be6 cos I have been running it for the last 24 hours and it seems to be rock solid,Like you when I got the site up I could not find it either ??

There's nothing quite like flashing your bios blind LoL but I dont think I would have been so happy if it hosed my board

But as I have said it's working Great

                              Regards Matt
