  • How far can a P3 750 overclock (SL3V6)?

I haven't overclocked this proc yet, but I'm looking to see how much speed I could gain. I've got a BE6-II, so I get lots of FSB options

    ------------------
Intel P3-750 Coppermine (No OC yet)
    Abit BE6-II
    Micron PC133 256MB RAM (128MBx2)
    Quantum Fireball KA Plus 18.2GB
Promise Ultra66 (I don't use the integrated one)
    Kenwood 52X TrueX
3Com Courier Analog V.Everything (great modem, but still want DSL)
    Diamond MX300
    Matrox G400MAX (5.52 w/ TurboGL)
    DirectX 7.0a
    Cambridge Soundworks Microworks system
    Sony 19" 400PS
    Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel
    Epson Perfection 1200U PHOTO Scanner
    Epson Stylus Color 850 inkjet
    Addtronics 7890A w/ 300W Power Supply

Hmm, well. I've never had good luck overclocking. But I just got a Tennmax P3STF. I'll see if it helps.

        Liquid,
Before getting the MC-1000(peltier), I used that heatsink and it works very well, as good as an alpha but quieter

          Liquid Snake,

Good luck. I also have a PIII750 SL3V6. The best I've ever been able to do is 862 MHz at higher voltage, but the system is not very stable. Won't even POST at FSB greater than 115 MHz. Nice and stable at 840 MHz. Not a system problem, since nothing aside from the CPU has changed since I used to run my old 450 at 124 MHz FSB. I think this was the first stepping of the PIII 750, and they're not very overclockable. I think Intel was really pushing these.

            Hey DuRaNgO,

Did you use the stock T-Pad, or replace it; if so with what? I've thought about scrapeing it off and useing T-greese; but I'm woried the heatsink won't make as good a contact with the short CuMine core without the T-pad (actually phase change material; ever tried to remove the HS while the chips hot? ).

Might be what it takes to get my 650E to 866 .

Yes I did remove it and the temp dropped quite a bit, I used the paste that is sold on the tennmax site
and to answer your second question: Ditto
                jim
also, I removed the secc casing and used prox. 1/4" long pieces of fishtank hose as spacers on the backside, it allows for better seating
