  • Celeron 566 / Abit question

    Hello all...

Just a quick question... I have a dual celeron BP6 motherboard and a buyer for my 466 processor.... can I fit a couple of celeron 566 processors? (I cant find a second 466 chip to upgrade). I can get my hands on Celeron II's 566 retail packs.

    Regards Fin

        Gurm:

Are you sure about this ?

I've just checked Abit's homepage, and it says nothing about Celeron2, in fact is says that the board supports PPGA Celerons, which the Celeron2 isn't ....

Check on the forums over at the BP6 site (I forget the address, I'll post it later if anyone really cares), but this was argued over and over and I think that once someone actually tested one, it turned out to work. Some of them might need little socket-to-socket adapters, but they run nonetheless. Who cares if you spend an extra $50 to get them to work?

Ok, I checked out http://bp6.gamesquad.net/ , but I thought the Celeron2 was SMP disabled (read: crippled by Intel, the bastards) ??

Hence needing the little socket adapter thingy.

              - Gurm

P.S. I thought it turned out that not all of them were disabled?
