  • Replace both on-board IDE channels???

I am curiosu if this has been succesfully.. the reason why I would want to do this would be to replace the two on-board with an Ultra66 and a (was an Ultra66)Fastrak66..

Reason for that is that they both have two IDE channels but use ONE IRQ per.. I can have 4 IDE channels, using two IRQs.. versus 2 IDE channels using 2 IRQ's

    Get my drift?

As Plmr states, with current motherboards, it's great to be able to kill the IDE channels in the BIOS. I haven't used IDE devices for a long time, so it's nice to be able to assign my SCSI card to IRQ 15 and have IRQ14 for other devices. The only minor annoyance is that Win98 device manager feels it's necessary to remind you that the IDE bus master controller you disabled isn't functioning correctly.
