  • is there any way to set my perm swap at front of drive with win 2k?

I miss using norton utilities to set the swap file at the front of the drive, it seems to speed things up. Any solutions to this better yet any idea when norton utilities 2000 will work with win 2k? Thanks

There is a beta of Norton Speedisk for Win2k out. I repeat a BETA. I don't have a link though.

      easy ...

set your swapfile to a fixed amount and locate it on a dedicated partition.
Boot to DOS, format that partition and reboot into windows.

Upon bootup it will generate your swapfile and because your partition is clean, it will be located at the beginning.

      Cheers,
      Maggi

PS: don't forget to backup important data before formatting ...

Or if you are dual booting with 98 and 2K is on a Fat or Fat32 partition, use speed disk and tell it put pagefile.sys first on that drive after setting the pagefile to a fixed size. That's what I do. Don't blame me if it fuxxors your system though.
