  • coppermine suggestions ???????

    Hi people

I have been reading on the web that the coppermine 600E is a good clocker, has any one had the balls to push one up to 900 Mhz yet???

I think that my g400 Max can handle the pace but I am concerned about the possible probs with the BX chipset running that far out of spec

At the moment I am running at 140
hz fsb and have been doing so since I got my P3 450......so it looks like the 150 Mhz barrier is attainable, with the right memory of coarse..

if some hardcore dude has done this then please can they post some info.
    Regards Max-Payne

I went right to 150 x 6 =900 as soon as I put in the 600e 2 months ago ..It was stable as hell BUT the g400 couldnt hang,,When I ran 3dmark 2000 It frose solid .. Games like unreal hung pretty quick also ..all other apps were stable and strong as long as I cared to run them..I backed it down to 147 and It purrs ...Happy Happy Joy Joy...

Hey Matt, I was curious as to which version of the G400 you have? I bought mine when it first came out, so mine is only AGP2X.
      Regards,

It will definitle not be the BX mobo that cuts out first!
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

          Hi obiBen

Mine to is only rated to agp X2 but that does'nt worry me at all

BTW I see that there have been some promising results with the Cmine 650E,it looks like it will do the 140 Mhz without a problem.as I have said before in an earlier post I have been running at that speed for months with my P3 450 @ 630 Mhz without a glitch .

I have just looked at the prices and I can get hold of one for £226.00

          What do you think ??

            I have a 550E, on a BE6-II
Its a good combo, but i would have rather gotten a k7 750 for the same price, they oc very well too, .18micron just like the p3E, and they are faster then p3s. but a 600 will do 800 w/o any problems, im runnin mine on a 133fsb, with a Marvle G200 in it...

Apparently the newer cB0 steppings on the Coppermines have a much better chance of clocking than the older stepping [cA0].

S codes like SL3X? or SL4?? look to be the best bet if only I could find one

www.overclockers.co.uk do a 600e guaranteed to do 800. they do it either retail boxed or oem secc2. you might not hit 900 but at least you'll get 800.

My 600E could only get up to 840 on a BE6-II but flies at 900 on my P3V4X. Lockups galore on the BE6-II/G400 and a freebee P3V4X found this out for me.

The 150/2 AGP speed is fine for my G400 too.

As for the 600E - overclocking temps:
                      600E@600 + stock intel retail = 31C
                      600E@800 + stock intel retial = 41C
                      600E@600 + twinfan HS (coola) = 27C
                      600E@900 + twinfan HS (coola) = 36C

600E @ 900 is nice cos the AGP is only up a bit, and the FSB is at 150 - a typical SETI
unit for me is now 4h55mins
