  • Celemine II. Prognosis?

I don't know about you guys, but the celemine II looks like a good option to breath some more life into my old BH6 bx board. I like this board and it would be a shame to let it gather dust in the corner. Although the celemine is a castrated coppermine core, you can buy a 566 or 600 & o/c to around 850-950Mhz(depending on chip quality) and it would perform around a P!!! 650 spec. There are a couple good articles at FiringSquad on the P3 vs Cel2 & the Celemine II 600. Any thoughts/comments on these articles?
    Cheers.

You better buy a Coppermine 600. Soon they will be the lowest speed-grade Coppermine you can buy from Intel, (so it will be relatively cheap), and they generally overclock to 800MHz.... then you've got some real power for your BH6

I believe that if your running a BH6 ver 1.0, you can't run a P3 Cumine, do to BIOS limitations with voltage.

I had a Coppermine 500 going in a August '98 BH6 just fine. Almost positive it was rev 1.0.

thanks dneal, i had a feeling you could run coppermines/celemines on the older bh6 boards. i believe mine is a bh6 1.01(or maybe 1.02 rev) revision. think you just flash the bios to accept the newer cpu even on the older bh6's. i just wanted to check if anyone had success doing this with a similar aged board.
          cheers.
