  • win2000 pro and NTFS

    Hi
I have a question to everyone who is using win2000pro and not only.

    I've installed w2k using Fat32 partitions (I have c and d and they are both fat32)

Now I want to set to to be NTFS and I can't find any utility in w2k to do that.

How can I change fat32 to ntsf on win2000 pro on both partitions????

I believe you do it in the administrative tools/computer management

You can do that from a command prompt window using the CONVERT utility.
Simply type "convert c: /fs:ntfs" and "convert d: /fs:ntfs" and it will convert the partitions immediately when not in use by a process and upon reboot for the system partition because it is locked by processes running at the moment. You exit the command prompt and restart. Remember though that there is no way to convert the partitions back to fat32 without using 3rd party tools such as Powerquests PartitionMagic.
