  • PC100 RAM with mixed 6ns and 7ns, problems?

    I picked upp two 128MB PC100 RAM at work.
    The first chip has is 6ns chips on one side and on the other its 7ns chips!

    The other one has a more even mix of 7 and 6 ns chips.

    I checked Hyundai and the chip is rated PC133 and CAS2.

    It's not an original memory but will they cause any problem for me?
    I have plans for getting a coppermine 7-800Mhz and i have no plans of overclocking!

    If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

    These are two different speed grades of the exact same chip, so it should not be a problem if they programmed the SPD to be the least common denominator. It is very rare to see that, though.

        I have now 3 128MB sticks making 384MB.
        When i tried to push the first one in the first Slot broke in the left and the retention hook came loose!
        Anoyed i jammed it in anyway and it worked!
        After testing (booting 98, running sandra...) i tried to lift it out thinking it would sitt "lose" and almost hurt my fingertips :;

        The new sticks works by themselves in slot 2 & 3!
        And the old one still works in the beaten up slot 1.

        Why couldent they have made sdram slots like the sim slots : ZIF

          Because if they did you would still be putting DIMMs in a SIMMs socket!
