Lower desktop rezolution than 640*480?

Is there a way to get a lower desktop resolution than 640*480?
Most DX games can leave you at souch minimized desktop but i would like to know if there is some way to get lower resolutions on purpose?

I've done this before with 512*384, and I think you can go even lower. As I remember, I used the PD5 Res Manager program, which is floating around somewhere on this site. It lets you add new and exotic resolutions to PowerDesk, which will then be accessible by windows. If that fails, then there is a utility called HZTOOL from http://hem.passagen.se/doxx/ which can do a similar type of thing, with a bit of fiddling.
