  • SpaceX Falcon 9 1st stage landing (images & video dump) (1 pic 2nite, more tomorrow)

    Taken by a cam at the top of the landing first stage from the recent CRS-3 ISS resupply mission. Video also said to be coming after they clean it up.

    Aviation Week has called this R&D "exemplar" and a "model"

    This is a low altitude test of the landing system done days before the actual flight. Bear in mind that this first stage is well over 150 feet tall.

        @micahgtb almost

        @elonmusk How did tech like landing radar (I'm guessing) cope with wave motion?

        Elon Musk ‏@elonmusk 9h
        @constrainedbyc no problem

            Telemetry was really f'ed up by the storm, plus the NASA P3 was grounded by icing. Next try May 10.

              Well there's not much you can do with the video.
              If the data isn't there, it isn't there. can't invent it.

              A shame really, because the couple of flashes you can see in the upper half of the screen, show stable hovering, and then a descent into the waves, with a yellowish flame.

              I'm sure the next vid will be a lot better
