  • Abit BF6 and o/cing brings about no AGP2X and screen corruption.

I guess I will just never learn.

    I have a G400Max
Abit BF6 mobo (sold my Asus P3B-F, Big mistake!)
    256MB Micron PC133 memory
    SB Live!
    USB Ethernet adapter.

These parts ran fine at 124Mhz on the Asus baord, on the Abit board I cannot get AGP 2x, with the board either clocked at 124Mhz, or now even with the default clocks. I haven't tried upping the voltage cause I didn't think I would need to cause I didn't have to do ANYTHING on the Asus board to get AGP 2X on it. Is it worth even trying to make the board work at AGP 2X with the Abit, or should I just return it and get another P3B-F?
    PIII 600E at 800Mhz, Waiting for G800, til then Voodoo3 3000, Asus P3B-F at 133FSB (ain't none better!), 256MB PC133 Memory, 2 Seagate 18GB Cheeeeetazzzz.

Return it and get an Asus or Soyo board. The Abit's have great overclocking setttings in the bios, but tend to be a little flakey in the AGP department.

I had an Abit Bh6 until a few weeks ago. It was a good board, but i could never get the G400 to perform in AGP x2. I'd just assumed that the Graphics Card didn't want to play the game.

Then I purchased a Soyo SY-6BA+IV. The G400 is now running comfortably at AGP x2 @ 96 mhz.

    Cheers

    Giskard.

I tend to think it is the board cause my card in my roommates system (again almost the same only difference is Asus P3B-F), with my card and ram runs AGP 2X at 133Mhz FSB no hacks needed. I threw in an old TNT2 Ultra I have laying around and couldn't get AGP 2X with the clocks defaulted and a fresh format of Win98SE. My guess is the AGP slot is trashed. It's funny though cause the board seems stable enough on Win2K with all the same hardware, but alas I use Win98SE for composing music and can't handle the lock up's and freezing with the board.
