  • Vid Card Locks up all day, please help...

    I need help desparately.
My work machine has V3 2000 PCI. It is constantly locking up in NT4. The symptoms are, web browsers and acrobat 4.0 (not reader) take offense to certain images in documents. The image is legible, but garbled with odd colored pixels. This is a freeze, which means no BSOD, no keyboard, and no mouse. Only a reset button.

    I've tried:
Purging the registry with regedit and regedt32, including all keys refering to the old vid card (#9 I128 SII, 4MB).
    Reinstalling drivers and SP6
Removing all startups, including Adobe Gamma loader, Acrobat assitant, office startup, etc.

Please help! this is a work machine, and I'm rebooting 10-20 times a day.

BTW 3dfx's boards are useless. There are even a couple of their tech support guys that troll the site, and they haven't responded to any of my appeals. That is why I'm turning to the talents of the matroxusers!

    Thanks...

    Don't know ... could be:
[*]your powersupply struggling[*]a heat problem[*]a drivers issue[*]a problem of leftovers from previous cards

    ...

Think about those points and try to check 'em if possible (borrow a PS, leave your case open, try different driver revisions ... complete fresh installation of NT)

Sorry, I can't help you out more, because I never had any DooDoo in my rig ... oops ... Voodoo, of course ...

PS: Swap that Voodoo for a G200 ... very inexpensive and high quality working card, especially for PhotoShop.

I don't think my advise will help very much, but I add it anyway...

Basically NT isn't too happy switching hardware so I recommend reinstalling NT.

hope you find the answer you're looking for..

BTW about your home-system, I tried a g400 DH + RRG on my P3B-F with also a WD HD and the same drivers but when I record from TV-in, after some seconds the dropped frames will occurr, having the same problem ??????
