  • Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

The first trailer for the prequel starring Luke Pasqualino, launching online Friday, has debuted.

Frak, it's coming. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, the spinoff of the popular series, will hit the web before being broadcast on television.

Blood & Chrome, starring Luke Pasqualino (The Borgias) and Ben Cotton (Alcatraz), will premiere on the young male-skewing Machinima's YouTube channel, Machinima Prime, beginning Friday. The film will be broken up into 10, seven- to 12-minute episodes online until February and will remain on Machinima until April.

It will be followed by its Syfy premiere, with the date to be announced later, followed by a the DVD/Blu-ray/VOD/PPV release of the unrated version.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows: "The film takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial world, gifted fighter pilot William Adama (Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Cotton). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset."

Lil Bordan (Silent Witness) co-stars in the Universal Cable Productions film.

“With its top-notch storytelling, pulse-pounding action, and cutting-edge visual effects, Blood & Chrome is the perfect extension of the Battlestar Galactica universe,” said Mark Stern, president, original content, Syfy and co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions. “We are thrilled to see this hotly-anticipated event premiere on Machinima, an online network that is unparalleled in its delivery of high-class digital content to millions of viewers.”

Blood & Chrome was originally developed as a potential series for Syfy with the team behind the flagship series following TV movies Razor and The Plan. David Eick and Michael Taylor serve as executive producers, with Taylor writing the teleplay from a story by Eick, Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. Jonas Pate directed.
