  • Superman: Man of Steel in Canada

Filming is in the Vancouver area from September to January.

A casting call for extras has gone out in Ucluelet and Nanaimo, B.C. looking for older men and women with "character faces" and "commercial fishermen types." It also says that the production is using Ucluelet because it needed a location that looked like an Alaskan community.

Jerry Siegel (writer) was from Cleveland, Ohio. Joe Shuster (artwork) was born in Toronto, but he grew up in Toledo, Ohio.

in the 1920's they were friends and later read Philip Wylie's 1930 novel Gladiator (he also wrote When Worlds Collide), which was about a man named Hugo Danner who had superpowers and was invulnerable. They created their own superpowered villain for their fanzine, but evolved him into a hero. In 1936 they got jobs at DC-National, and in 1939 their editor gave them a shot and published Superman.
