When I was 12 years old my dad and I were in Tiger Stadium when Killebrew hit a 500+ foot home run over the left field roof off Jim Bunning - man that thing had a rocket motor on it! A few years later he hit 6 homers in the All Star game there.
He may have played for the Twins, but kids in Detroit just loved watching him be a one-man wrecking crew at the plate.
