  • Win2k errors in event log!

I keep seeing the error messages written to the application event log. They occour on bootup. Are they important?

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: perfctrs
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 3101
    Date: 25-02-2000
    Time: 08:05:07
    User: N/A
    Computer: DESKTOP
    Description:
Unable to read IO control information from NBT device.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: WinMgmt
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 43
    Date: 25-02-2000
    Time: 08:05:03
    User: N/A
    Computer: DESKTOP
    Description:
WMI ADAP failed to connect to namespace \\.\root\cimv2\MS_406 with the following error: 0x8004100e

    Real easy to understand!

It only started happening after I installed my new Adaptec AHA2940U2W and 9.1GB Seagate Cheetah Hdd... (I think)

    Jake,

    check out this link;
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/library/resources/reskit/ErrorandEventMess ages/default.asp

at the bottom of the page is a link to download the entire message database...in excel(comma delimited)...

from the looks of your problem i'd rebuild the network stack from scratch and then re-create your dial-up connections
