  • Very simple question

    Hi,
Sorry for this dumb question : I want to buy a 19" monitor, and I have an "old" (3 years) Matrxo Mystique, with 4 mb. Will it be enough to drive a 19"" and which resoltions can I have with that ?
    Thanks for your help.

That depends on which ramdac that you have in it.

I've got an ol' Matrox Mystique 220 4MB card, where the 220 represented that the ramdac was at 220MHz. I could run it at 1600x1200x16@75Hz, which ought to be plenty for a 19" monitor.

I forget what other ramdac speeds the original Mystiques came in, but I think that 220 was the tops.

OK Mystique users, what other speeds did it come in, and what were their max resolutions and refresh rates?

Didn't have one but it was 170MHz. I know that doesn't help with the real question of resolution and refreash rate. But I'm sure someone will answer.

        bonjour jean françois

mon ancienne mystique II a un ramdac à 220.
il me semble qu'il y a 2 types de cartes mystique : la I et la II ???.
résolution honnête a 1600x1200x16@75Hz sur un 19' avec la II.

          You'd need 8MB gfx RAM to get a resolution of 1600x1200x32bpp ...

Maybe high color will go up to that res, but I'm not too sure.
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

            Hi everybody,
            Thanks for your prompt answers.
Tjis is an old Mystique 170 but, anyway, I didn't mean to use more than 1280 x 1024 x 24 bits, so that okay for me.
            See you folks.
            Regards
            Jean-François
