  • World record: Amazons!

After the election this morning, Switzerland has the following positions filled today by women:

    President of the Confederation
    Vice-president of the Confederation
Majority (4/7 or 57%) of the Government Ministers (Federal Council)
    Federal Chancellor
Speaker of the lower house (National Council)
Speaker of the upper house (Senate, Council of the States)

I believe that Switzerland is probably the first democratic country in the world to have a feminine majority in the government.

The real paradox is that Switzerland was one of the last, if not the last, democratic countries to give the right to vote for women - in 1971

Edit: sorry, I was wrong about it being the first country with a feminine government, but I maintain the phrase if you count all the other posts!
Switzerland's parliament votes a new minister into the government, giving the cabinet a majority of women for the first time.
