  • Athlon on K7M and Matrox G200

New system. Intermittently on boot up when Windows 98se starts I get corrupted screen with lots of white and colored blocks all over screen. Initial boot screens are fine, it's just when Win 98 starts to appear. Only solution has been to remove display adapter in device manager and then reboot to let Windows find Matrox G200 and then another reboot is okay. Seems to happen when I power off system for a while then turn on. Most soft reboots are okay, but not always. Any ideas? Thanks for any input.

Yes a lot of us G200/400 and K7M users have had to use one of the registry tweak programs on this site to force AGP x2 and it will go away. Some of us called it the Plaid Freeze in W98. I bet 20 of us have had to do it, maybe more . Good Luck.
