I was lucky enough to work at the National Physical Laboratory when the rooms that held ACE and DEUCE still existed. The DEUCE room in particular was shaped specifically to handle the layout of the many banks of racks and valves. Sadly the buildings were all lost as part of the PFI deal to build modern laboratories, along with the ship tanks Barnes Wallis used for testing the Bouncing Bomb. Apparently historical groups were consulted but no one cared enough to keep them. I think they missed a trick there - who wouldn't want to see those in operation for a few quid, and maybe even be able to pull the trigger?
