    Interesting... Theoretically it should indeed be possible to model things this way, but I noticed that all their examples seem to be static scenes in which a camera moves. So the relative position of every point in the point cloud remains the same.

    Somehow, I doubt this technology will work as fluently on animated scenes, where points in the point cloud move in relation to each other: no doubt this will mess up the "magical search algorithm" they use.

    IMO, it is not impossible, but I have my doubts on using this for dynamic scenes...

      isn't a "3d pixel" usually called a voxel? and hasn't that stuff been around since outcast & delta force?

        Even if they only use it for static objects in the scenery, such as buildings and ground/rock formations, it could add a lot to the look and realism.
