  • Spray-on Glass

(PhysOrg.com) -- Spray-on liquid glass is transparent, non-toxic, and can protect virtually any surface against almost any damage from hazards such as water, UV radiation, dirt, heat, and bacterial infections. The coating is also flexible and breathable, which makes it suitable for use on an enormous array of products.

Looks like a fantatic product, that we will see on the shelves very shortly

Nothing much new under the sun!

During the 39-45 war, eggs were more seasonal with a glut in spring and none later, as the hens were slaughtered for meat and to save on feedstuff. We used to preserve the new-laid eggs by dipping them into an aqueous sodium silicate solution, This formed a glassy surface to the shell, stopping the ingress of bacteria. The eggs would keep reasonably well for many months.
