  • Help needed!!! Motherboard voltage setttings :(

I have a problem I think I tried flashing my Abit BE6-II motherboard and after I was done, I didn't set the voltages for the CPU properly so all these alarms started activating. To make matters worse, the fan didn't work for a while ...CPU temperature kept going up ...

Anyway, to cut the story short, the CPU voltages are back to normal now I think (2 Volts for core; 3.3 for I/O). But there is still one alarm being generated. This is the -5volt supply voltage. For some reason, the voltage is hovering around -5.5 volts. This is JUST above the accepted range Now the question I have for everyone is whether this extra 0.5 volts is significant enough to cause damage (either now or later when overclocked).

If you guys don't mind, can you look in your BIOS (if it supports temperature monitoring) or use some 3rd party utility (if it is already installed eg.Mother Board Monitor v4.13) and tell me what the -5 Voltage is! I need to determine whether I should take some action or leave this as is.

    See Ya Later!(tm)
KoalaBear33--Moral of the story: After flashing the BIOS, ALWAYS set the CPU voltages, speed, and FSB properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Your voltage should be okay.
Mine reports -5.184.Minimum is -4.5 maximum is -6.To end the alarm, just push it a little past the -5.5 setting(ie.-5.6 or7
