  • Anyone tried the rev. 126 bios for K7M?

First I'd just like to say that the K7M has been running fine with my G400MAX. I have performed the registry hack to force AGP 2X. Seems there may be an issue here as there times when a cold boot is done, with higher bus speeds being utilized, that Windows SE fails to boot completely. The only solution is to simply use the hardware reset button. Then everything works perfectly!?! However there are no BSOD or "Plaid Death" occuring.

Currently, I'm still with bios rev. 124. Is the latest revision (rev. 126) any better? Or do any of you have any idea what issues it was intended to address? Thanks!

Hi Cannyone, I have upgraded to the 126 bios for the K7m mobo. I got a siren effect from the system speaker after proceeding into Windows. This siren maybe stopped be returning to bios setup and loading optimal settings, then exit, saving settings. You may have to go back into bios setup and change some of the settings to suit you system. I do have AGP 2x without installing the registry hack. Check the device manager for question marks. clearing these marks should help stabilize you system. My system is stable with no over clocking.

I have been running it since the day it came out without any issues. No crashes and no problems.

Always load default optimum settings after a bios update.

Well I flashed the bios to rev. 126 last night. Yes, I got alarm tone on restart! Though I'm almost getting to like it It reassures me that everything is working "normally". The only "feature" that I can see that this bios revision adds is a switch for Super-Bypass, which in my case is disabled completely (a rev. C stepping 4 board). But thanks guys for your input. I just didn't want one of those rev. 125 disasters. Take care now!
