On it's way from the shipyard in Finland it had to pass under the Great Belt bridge in Denmark.
The ship is actually 7 m. to tall to get under the bridge. So the designers installed telescopic "chimneys". This combined with sailing at full speed made it possible for the ship to pass under the bridge.

Here's som videoclip from the passing:

    Laptops: ASUS G750JM: Intel Core i7 4700HQ, 8GB RAM (DDR3-1600), Nvidia GTX 860M, 1 x Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD, 1 x WD 750 GB HDD, 17,3" FHD Screen, Windows 8.1 64-bit.
    ASUS Vivobook S400CA: Intel Core i5 3317U (1,7-2,6 GHz), 8 GB RAM (DDR3-1600), Intel HD4000, 1 x 500GB HDD, 14" touch-screen (1366x768), Windows 8.1 64-bit.

The lifeboats are the revolutionary Schat-Harding CRW55. They hold 370 persons each and cannot be capsized - they are sealed air-tight & just roll over and self-right. They launch by free-falling off a ramp and into the drink, which gets them away from the ship quickly.

        Test of the prototype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaVJb39aNDs

A long damned way from the Titanic.

A couple of hundred or so of them would still be needed tho.

Counting for just under 8000 people....

            Huh?!?

            7,565 people /350 per boat = ~21.62 boats

Also: just read something that says they carry 370, not 350.

              Factor of ten out

              Comes with the wine here

edit : Just effectively got off work at 7pm, having begun at 8am....once every two months I have to take the weekend calls....and the first one was a deusey (however you spell that)...

Some dude with a virus, the fake AV program, that someone installed....his PC was random rebooting also

I'm not allowed to RDP, unless we have a work pc to do it with, which we don't. Not on saturday.
              So he's f*ed.
              He's not happy about it.
He hangs up and calls people who call my boss. On saturday at 8:30am.

              Good start to day.

For some reason, I think monday is going to be another one of 'those days'....

Lucky I'll have a couple of Linksys WRT54-GL's to show and tell, one flashed to dd-wrt standard, and the other stock, just to show the difference between the two interfaces and capabilities....

                  Hate Mondays

Oasis has made its first crossing and met hurricane force winds with 80 foot seas on her way to Florida. Minor damage to two lifeboats, but they're still functional. Looks like she handle it.

                  Found this size comparison for the Oasis of the Seas;
